Safari Adventure: 13-Day Indonesia and Bali Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Jakarta

As you step off the plane at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, and meet your private guide. After a short transfer, arrive at your cozy hotel. Then, stroll down bustling streets, take in the sounds and sights of the local markets, and immerse yourself in the local way of life. Return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 2: Exploring Tanjung Puting National Park

Embark on a wildlife adventure as you venture into the lush green landscapes of Tanjung Puting National Park. The journey to the park starts with a scenic three-hour drive to the port of Kumai, where you will board a traditional riverboat known as a Klotok. As you sail along the serene Sekonyer River, the sounds of the jungle will surround you, and you will be able to take in the beauty of the mangrove swamp and dense rainforest that line the river banks. Upon reaching the park, you will have the opportunity to spot the park's famous residents, the orangutans and probosci's monkeys, as well as other primates, birds, lizards, and mammals that call these jungles home. After a full day's adventure, stop by an excellent restaurant for lunch. In the evening, check into your hotel. 

Day 3: Visiting Camp Leakey

This morning, you will embark on a journey of discovery, sailing upstream on the Sekonyer River towards Camp Leakey as you glide along the serene Crocodile River and the breathtaking landscapes of Tanjung Puting National Park. You will enjoy a delicious picnic lunch, taking in the sights and sounds of the jungle, before finally reaching Camp Leakey. This world-renowned orangutan research and rehabilitation center is a true treasure of the park. You will have the opportunity to meet the local rangers, learn about their fantastic work, and even watch the orangutans being fed. Take a short trek into the surrounding jungle and marvel at the wonders of nature before returning to your Klotok.

Day 4: Pondok Tanggui Jungle Trek

As the morning mist rises, you will set sail down the serene Sekonyer River, embarking on a journey to the site of another Camp Leakey post - Pondok Tanggui. Here, you will be able to observe the magnificent orangutans up close as they come to the feeding station. In the afternoon, you will lace up your hiking boots and embark on an unforgettable four-hour trek into the heart of the dense primary rainforest. As you venture deeper into the jungle, you will be surrounded by the sounds of exotic birds and the rustling of leaves, a symphony of the wilderness. With each step, you will immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of Bali's rainforests, a true oasis of peace and serenity. Along the way, you will encounter other creatures that call these jungles home, such as gibbons, wild pigs, and deer. Your journey will culminate at your campsite for the night, where you can reflect on the day's events and enjoy dinner under the starry night sky.

Day 5: Hiking further to Pesalat

Embark on a journey of conservation and rejuvenation as you rise with the sun and savor a delicious breakfast cooked over the crackling campfire. Today you will take a meaningful step in preserving the lush rainforests of Bali by participating in a tree-planting project at Pesalat Reforestation Camp. Your efforts will contribute towards creating a greener tomorrow and ensure that the jungle's inhabitants have a thriving home for generations to come. After a purpose-filled day, settle into a peaceful afternoon of leisure and reflection on your riverboat. End this memorable day with a mouth-watering final dinner on the tranquil waters of the Sekonyer River.

Day 6: Journey to Bali

Drive back to Bali, and visit the beautiful Tirta Empul Temple, a sacred site for the Balinese Hindu community. Participate in the purification rituals and immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere. Next, head to the iconic Gunung Kawi Temple, a breathtakingly beautiful and historic site carved into the cliffs. Take a stroll through the rice paddies of Ubud, admire the beauty of the emerald green terraces, and interact with the friendly locals. End the day with a memorable traditional Balinese dance performance, showcasing the Island's rich cultural heritage.

Day 7: Bali Exploration

After breakfast, spend the day leisurely exploring the serene surroundings of Jimbaran Bay. Savor the local seafood delicacies at one of the many warungs, and treat your taste buds to an array of flavors from Indonesian cuisine. Explore the Island's nightlife before returning to your hotel.

Day 8: Exploring the Islands of Sabolon & Sebayor

After breakfast, you will board the Mantra, a traditional Indonesian sailboat that serves as your floating home for the next four nights. You will navigate through the calm waters and head toward the nearby islands of Sabolon & Sebayor. These islands are renowned for their vibrant coral reefs, teeming with marine life and a kaleidoscope of colorful fish. Put on your snorkeling gear and dive into the warm waters for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 

Day 9: Continue to Tatawa

The morning sea breeze brings a new sense of adventure as you set sail towards the captivating Tatawa Island, where you will trek to the summit of the hill and be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding turquoise waters and lush green landscapes. As you cruise towards the famous Komodo Islands, keep a sharp eye out for a chance encounter with dolphins, manta rays, and even the occasional passing whale, adding to the already incredible experiences of your sea journey.

Day 10: Cruising To Komodo Islands

En route to the Komodo Islands, the ancient volcanic islands' majestic, rugged landscapes come into view. You will make a stop at Batu Bolong's Pink Beach, which is a true gem. Then, embark on a guided hike along the scenic trails to spot the local wildlife, such as the rare Komodo dragons. After taking in all the beauty of Pink Beach, you will sail again towards the Komodo Islands. 

Day 11: Komodo Island

On reaching the Komoda Island's harbor, disembark for a 2km walk to Banunggulung to encounter the massive Komodo Dragons and observe their unique behaviors and interactions in their natural habitat. The Island is also a treasure trove of other wildlife and birdlife, from the fleet-footed deer to the soaring sulfur-crested cockatoos and the brightly-feathered collared kingfishers. After a thrilling morning, set sail to the paradise island of Taka Kawawa, where you can immerse yourself in the stunning underwater world. Dive in and be amazed by the vibrant coral reefs and the mesmerizing dance of manta rays, schools of tropical fish, and other incredible marine wildlife.

Day 12: Back to Bali

As the harbor comes into view, you'll be nostalgic, knowing that your journey on the Mantra is ending. After a smooth and seamless transfer, you'll take to the skies for your flight back to Denpasar and the comfort of your beach hotel. 

Day 13: Departure

Say farewell to the breathtaking landscapes as you depart the incredible Indonesia that has been your home for the past few days. After a farewell lunch, your private guide will drive you to the Denpasar Bali International Airport for your flight home.
