Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Your arrival in Tanzania will happen either via a direct flight to Kilimanjaro Airport or passing by Kenya. In any case, you will reach the international airport of Kilimanjaro from where your guide will transfer you to your hotel. This is just the beginning but you will start feeling the energy of the surroundings while driving to your hotel.

Day 2: Completing first 900 m

This trip is tailor-made to make you climb to the top of the Kilimanjaro mountain and today you have actually started it. The hotel where you are residing is located at a significant height of the mountain. Reaching the hotel room you have actually completed the first 900m of the total height of the mountain.

Day 3: The start of real trekking: Climbing 900m - 2580 m

Kick-start the real adventure of Kilimanjaro Trek by registering your details to Machame Gate (1 hour, 1790m). The registration may take up to an hour and it’s because of the crowd of travelers wishing to trek the imperious Kilimanjaro. When done with it, start trekking to Machame Camp while passing by a beautiful montane forest. You will be camping overnight at the edge of this forest.

Day 4: Crossing the uphills of Shira Plateau: 2980m - 3840m

Get closer to more open and more fascinating mountain views while crossing the uphills of Shira Plateau. Camping overnight here is full of adventure and leisure. Do not miss to capture the great views of the summit massif. They are totally picturesque.

Day 5: Barranco Valley and a colder temperature: 3840m - 3950m

Witness a dense desert environment with incredible rock formations. As your trek progresses, you will get exposed to the weather that drops you into the Barranco valley right beneath the western breach. Be aware of the falling temperature and the narrow edges.

Day 6: The great views of the Heim Glacier: 3950m - 3950m

Transact from the Barranco Valley to Karanga Valley to witness open campsite views. The great views of the Heim Glacier will inspire you to trek more. The day six would be another up and down day but there would be no net gain in the height. One more day ends and you are left with a few kms to the top of the mountain.

Day 7: The ultimate Barafu camping: 3950m - 4550m

As you head upwards towards the open rock, the temperature begins to drop degree by degree. Since you are heading towards the Barafu camp, known as the ice camping, the temperature has to give you ice like feeling. Go for the born-fire to warm yourself. Your guide will instruct you better on this. Follow his instructions to avoid mistakes.

Day 8: Get welcomed by steeper slopes and windchills: 4550m - 2800m

After a cold temperature, now it’s time to be greeted by the windchill. You are one day away from the mountain rim which you will cover by trekking the steeper slopes and a night-time ascent on the rock. You are going to witness the world’s best moments in the uphills of Kilimanjaro Mountain.

Day 9: Completing the summit: 2800m - 900m

Get down to Mweka Gate while passing by the dense forests and pick up your summit certificate. Your legs will be tired but your soul will be delighted to complete this incredible summit. After spending a leisure time at the mountain, transfer to your hotel. Have your dinner and go for a hot shower to soothe your body. A good night’s sleep is all that you need after hours-long Kilimanjaro trek.

Day 10: Departure for home

Wake up in the morning with the sound of birds. Open up the curtains and feel the sun for the last few hours. This is the last day of your Kilimanjaro trek and you will be leaving this place in a couple of hours. Get freshen up and get down to enjoy your farewell breakfast after which you will be taking a leave for the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
