Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Yerevan - Welcome to Armenia

This is going to be your Best Armenia Tours 2019! You will be beginning your trip with sightseeing in Yerevan. Today, after you are done with breakfast and everything, you will be visiting Matenadaran, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. This institute has been named after St. Mesrop Mashtots. Most of the manuscripts belong to the 5th century and are associated to Mesrop Mashtots, who is also believed to be the inventor of the  Armenian alphabet.

After this, you will be proceeding further towards the Cascade, which is a 522 steps staircase, designed with flower beds and fountains. And, there, you will also get to see an open-air museum that has 30 sculptures. You will then be visiting the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex. This memorial has been built to commemorate the victims of 1915, Armenian Genocide. You will also be visiting the Genocide Museum.

 

Day 2: Yerevan - Garni and Geghard

This is the second day of your best Armenia Tours 2019! Today, after you are done with breakfast, venture out for an excursion to the History Museum of Yerevan. You will get to see here 87000 exhibits. And, the best of them which you cannot miss is the copy of the cuneiform stone.

After this, you will be moving toward the pagan temple of Garni. This temple was built by king Trdat I in the I century and it was built to show respect to the god of sun Mihr. Then, there’s this Azat River gorge, which is mostly known for its basaltic pillars.  

Continuing your trip, your next spot will be "Basalt Organ" and "Symphony of Stones". The Rocks seem like giant organs if they are looked from a distance. Your next stop will be Geghard monastery complex. This complex has been listed in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Then enjoy a wonderful dinner and return back to your hotel room!

 

Day 3: The Republic Square & Brandy Factory

You will start this day with a delicious breakfast, then you will be visiting the Republic Square, called the center of Yerevan. You will get to see here, the perfect traditional style monuments. Most of the edifices of the Republic Square are built with basalt at the bottom and tufa on the other sides.

Thereafter, you will be seeing the History Museum of Armenia, which is the main museum of the country. There are around 400,000 exhibits here, and there are a number of departments here including numismatic department, archaeological, the Department of Modern and Contemporary history of Armenia, and historic architecture department.

After this, you will be visiting the city of Echmiadzin and Echmiadzin Cathedral (301-483 AD). Echmiadzin Cathedral is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites. You will also be visiting today, the ruins of Zvartnots temple. Continuing your journey, you will be visiting Yerevan Brandy Factory. At the end of the day, enjoy your dinner and go back to your hotel room.

 

Day 4: Yerevan - Khor Virap, Noravank, Khndzoresk & Goris

Today, after breakfast and everything, you will be visiting the Armenian monastery of Khor Virap. This monastery is located at the foot of Mount Ararat in the vicinity of Turkey border. This one is a pilgrimage associated with the legend of Grigor Lusavorich. You can also visit the prison, where King Trdat III was imprisoned for 13 years. The prison has 4.4 meters of diameter and 6 m depth.

Then you will be proceeding further to the front right of you, Mount Ararat, the symbol of Armenia. Your next stop will be the Noravank monastery complex, which is situated 1.5 meters away from Areni village. You will be then visiting  Khndzoresk village and the “cave city”. Till 1958, people used to live here in caves. Later in 2012, the "Hanging Bridge" was built here over the gorge connecting the two banks of Khndzoresk village.

 

Day 5: Tatever - Tatev Monastery, Karahunj, Sevan & Dilijan

In this part of the Best Armenia Tours 2019, you will be visiting the Tatev monastery. This Armenia monastery is situated on the bank of the gigantic canyon. During the Middle Ages, Tatev used to be the educational and spiritual centers. The “Wings of Tatev”, is 5752 m long and is the longest around the World. It will be taking you to the Tatev monastery.

After this, you will be visiting Karahunj (Zorats Karer), the complex with an altitude of 1770 m. This is considered one of the oldest observatories around the globe. You will be continuing your trip towards the Lake Sevan. Lake seven the biggest lake in the Caucasus and is the most significant sources of freshwater in the area.

You will be then seeing the Sevanavank monastery in the Northern coast of the Lake. And, the last spot for the day will be Tavush Province of Armenia, which is a small town-resort in Dilijan. At the end of the day, you will be enjoying your dinner and returning back to your hotel room.

 

Day 6: Dilijan - Haghartsin & Ijevan wine factory

This day, after breakfast, you will be visiting the Haghartsin Monastery! Next stop on this incredible trip will be village Gosh, where you will be seeing the monastic complex of Goshavank.

After this, you will be visiting the town of Ijevan. Then there is this Makaravank monastery, which is located on the Western side of the  Achajur, village. Here, in the complex, you will be seeing the main church, two of the oldest churches, and the porch. In the entire Armenia, Makaravank monastery complex occupies a key position. You will be visiting the Ijevan winery, which was built in 1951.

 

Day 7: Sanahin - Yerevan

This day, you will be beginning by going to the Lori region of Armenia. You will be visiting the village of Sanahin. It was in 1996 when the Sanahin monastery  was included in the list of UNESCO World heritage sites. On the seventh day of your best Armenia tours 2019, you will be visiting Mikoyan Brothers (Anastas and Artyom) Museum and Haghpat monastery. It was in 1996, that Haghpat got included in the list of UNESCO World heritage sites.

 

Day 8: Yerevan

Day 9: Yerevan - Departure Day
