On your flight to Bhutan, you will experience the most scenic view and will wonder at the exquisiteness of this charming land. Don’t miss the spectacular view of the Himalayas from your window; it’s breathtakingly beautiful. Land at the Paro airport, your guide will welcome you wholeheartedly. On your way, you can stop by Thimpu, which is just 45 km away and try some delicious special dishes like Khur-Le that’s a Bhutanese pancake. This is undeniably going to give a great start to your Bhutan tour package. You can spend the afternoon wandering through Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan which is a vibrantly designed city lovely rice fields, gigantic mountains and the idyllic panorama. You can also see the famous Zoo, Takin Preserve which showcases the national animal of Bhutan, Takin.
Once you are done with your breakfast, get into the shoes to experience yet another enthralling day here in Bhutan. There’s only a small drive up hill into the mountains that will take you to the Cheri Monastery, a Buddhist Monastery. Your guide will acquaint you with the place with some lessons on the monastery and Buddhism. After that you can chose a serene and quite place to have your lunch, so as to make yourself ready for your next destination which of course is the paper factory. Here, you will get to know what method is applied to produce handmade paper. And, there are other spots on the list like the famous Stupa, Chorten, dzong fortress where you will find 1000 Buddha paintings on the wall. If you are left with time, you can watch the spectacle of young men playing Archery which is the national game of Bhutan.
Punakha is only 85 km from Thimpu and in general it will not take much time to drive out there. But, you need to be cognizant of the fact that since it’s going to be a drive through windy road and through the mountains, it may take a little longer sometimes. The way from Thimphu and Punakha is a high mountain, the Dochu La Pass and you will get incredible view of the Himalayas. You will also get to see at this pass the 108 stupas built to commemorate the velour of Bhutanese soldiers who were killed in 2003 by the Indian insurgents. After that you can move towards the Punakha Dzong! The next place to see is the Chimi Lhakhang is the Temple which is a representation of the Divine Madman, the Buddhist monk. Many of you may feel shocked on discovering that this Monk used to love woman and alcohol.

And, if you would be able to do this would depend entirely on the month in which you are planning your vacation in Bhutan. If you are there in and around October, the river will welcome you with its calmness, but in spring season it’s definitely going to be a tougher task to do rafting on rafting the Mo Chhu River.
