Day 1: Yerevan - Arrival in Armenia

On the first day of your Exotic Armenia Tours, you will be landing in Yerevan! Your private guide will be taking you to your hotel room. You can relax and unwind a little. After this, you will be venturing out for sightseeing in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital.

  • Yerevan is believed to be the oldest city! Travelers name it among the list of most splendid and humble places to be in.

  • You will be beginning your exotic Armenia Tours by visiting the Cascade Monument. This Monument is considered as the main symbol of the city.

  • Atop the monument of Cascade, you will get to see a breathtakingly beautiful view of the Republic Square, Opera House, posh Northern Avenue, Mount Ararat, and Swan Lake.

Day 2: Yerevan – Geghard, Garni & Etchmiadzin

Today, you will be driving down to Gargi from Yerevan! Gargi is one of the most popular villages and known for its fortress.

  • The Fortress located in the Gargi village is the only surviving sacred places from the first century. It is believed to have introduced the concept of Christianity in the fourth century.

  • Your next spot will be the monastery complex Geghard. It is the towering cliffs that form this mesmerizing landscape.

  • You will be then continuing towards Armenia, Etchmiadzin, the Holy place. You must not forget visiting the Etchmiadzin Cathedral.

 

Day 3: Yerevan – Khor-Virap, Areni, Noravank

Today, after having your breakfast and everything, you will be heading towards Khor-Virap Monastery.

  • Your guide will let you know that Khor-Virap is the place, where the patron saint of Armenia and the Illuminator, St. Gregory was kept for 13 years. It was because he is the who was found to dismantle Christianity and took on a different religion.

  • And, from the Khor-Virap Monastery, you will get the perfect view of the Mount Ararat.

  • Then you will be driving towards the Areni cave complex. Here, the oldest shoe has been found.

  • You will be stopping by Areni town. This town is believed to be the producer of apricot, pomegranate and different varieties of berries.

  • Try some wine at one of the local wineries. And, then continue your trip to Armenia towards Noravank Monastery.

 

Day 4: Selim pass, Sevanavank, Lake Sevan, 

  • You will be heading towards  Selim caravanserai! And, be ready to stop by Vardenyats Pass and its highest point. You will get an opportunity to enjoy the perfect view.

  • Continuing with your journey, you will be traveling to the Lake Sevan, which is considered as the Jewel of Armenia.

  • Sevan is the highest lakes of the World with freshwater. At its coast, you will get to see white bare steep rocks, thick woods, and mountain steppes.

  • You will then be moving towards Sevanavank. Here, you will be visiting the remains of the monastery that includes Surb Astvatsatsin and Surb Arakelots.

  • Since this edifice was built with black stuff, it is named as “the Black Monastery”. You will get to experience here, the breathtakingly magnificent view.

  • Snow topping all around, and surrounded by lakes, this place is the perfect place you.

  • The next spot you will be visiting is  Dilijan. Here you will be seeing two Armenia Monastery.

 

Day 5: Dilijan – Haghpat, Sanahin

This is the fifth day of your Exotic Armenia Tours! Today, after breakfast and everything, you will be planning your trip to the Lori region. Today, you will be visiting Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries. These two monasteries were built during the 10th to 13th century by the Kiurikian dynasty. And, both of these dynasties used to be very important educational centers during the time.

Sanahin Monastery:  Sanahi monastery, which is known widely for its pretty unique landmarks is located in Lori city of Armenia. This monastery has some of the most beautiful landmarks of Lori. This one of the treasure troves of the Armenian architecture! Being an educational center of Armenia, it has a variety of libraries, academies, schools, and scriptoriums.

Haghpat monastery: It’s also called as Haghpatavank and is located in Haghpat, Armenia. It was found during the reign of King Abas I in the 10th century. Also, some of the nearby dynasties were also built in the same time period. Haghpat Monastery location was chosen in a way that it overlooked the Debed River. And, it was built halfway between the hillside and not on the top to keep it protected.

 

Day 6: Yerevan – Oshakan & Amberd fortress

Today you will be driving your way to the Amberd fortress and will be continuing towards Oshakan.

Amberd fortress: It is one of the unique examples of Armenian architecture that has survived till today from the 7th century. It was named so because of its location, which is around 2300 meters above the sea level. Since Amberd means ‘fortress in the clouds’, it was named as the Amberd fortress. It is believed that the construction of the fortress was started by  Armenian princes Kamsarakan.

Oshakan: After Amberd fortress, you will be continuing towards Oshakan! It’s actually the burial place for Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the father of Armenian alphabet. The cathedral was rebuilt in 1875 by Catholicos George IV and it houses the grave of Saint Mesrop Mashtots. The Oshakan village is believed to be around 2500 years old! Most travelers come to this place to visit the grave of Saint Mesrop Mashtots. After your today's travel goals are done, enjoy your dinner and get back to Yerevan.

 

Day 7: Yerevan – Departure Day

Today, you will be checking out from the hotel in the afternoon! And, if you have time, you can visit the traditional Armenian market.
