A 9 Days Spain Itinerary for Family!

Day 1: Madrid - Welcome to the Capital City

Your 9 Days Spain Itinerary is going to start in Madrid! You’ll be arriving in the city after a long flight and will be met with your private guide at the airport. He is going to take you to your hotel. It’s time to take some rest and get yourself ready for the next day trip!

Here you are going to stay for three days and so there’s enough time to explore the city. Once you have settled down in this new place, just venture out to experience some delights of Madrid. From the world-class museum to amazing tapas to charming cafes and cosmopolitan nightlife there’s no dearth of charm in every part of the city.

This day you will be taking a walk through the some of the best tourist attractions of Spain including the Royal Palace of Madrid, Buen Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol. And, if you are left with some time just get on to discovering further Barrio de las Letras. It’s the place where many of the famous writers of Spain used to live. Also, you must not forget visiting Templo de Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple.

Day 2: Segovia or Toledo

It’s the second day of your Spain Tour and this day will start with a breakfast like Spaniard. Toast with tomato prepared with olive oils and a little salt is the perfect Spanish kind of breakfast. Couple it with a glass of Zumo de Naranja natural and cafe con leche. This is going to give you a perfect Spanish experience.

After breakfast, you’ll be traveling all the way to the nearby cities Toledo or Segovia. Both of these cities can be reached in around 30 minutes via a high-speed train ride. In the year 1986, Toledo was named as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is the place where Jews, Christians, and Muslims used to live together. Also, in this historically rich part of Spain, El Greco used to love and paint.

And,  Segovia, as narrated by the locals, is considered cheapest of the two sister cities and also is comparatively prettier. It will take just 15 minutes to walk to the other end of the city walking from one end of the city. The Roman aqueduct, the city’s wonderful cathedral, the cathedral there’s a lot to see in this city. Once you are done for today, head towards your hotel to enjoy your perfect kind of dinner.

Day 3: Madrid

This is going to be your last day spent in Madrid and the third day of Spain Itinerary. Today you’ll be taking time to explore the city more closely. It’s a great idea to wander around the streets. You’ll get to discover a lot of things like the local neighborhood Las Salesas where you can see many boutiques, Malasana, and bakeries.

Also, find some time to wander through some of the vibrant markets of Madrid and enjoy sampling cheese and Jamon. All through the city, there are many traditional markets where you can get to find many Spanish Delicacies including Spanish tortilla, tapas varieties, Jamon Serrano, and patatas bravas.

In the afternoon, between 2 p.m to 5 p.m you can enjoy a long leisurely lunch which is considered the meal of the day in Spain. Today the most popular street is just outside of the center on Calle Cava Baja in the neighborhood of La Latina. End your day with chocolate and churros.

Day 4: Seville

This is the fourth day of your Spain Itinerary and you are traveling to the Southern part. Seville is an ever-evolving, charismatic, and flamboyant Andalucian metropolis. You can get around to Seville from Madrid in less than three hours. There are efficient national rail systems in Spain and you won’t face any difficulty in reaching your destination.

Legends say that this city was founded by Greek God  Hercules around 3000 years ago. You’ll get to see here perfectly beautiful building along with gypsy culture and vibrant flamenco. If you want to see bullfighting, Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballeria is the place. This is the end of today’s trip!

Day 5: Malaga

This day you’ll be getting up a little earlier to enjoy your breakfast! And, then you will be venturing out for a trip through the outskirts of the Andalucian coast. You’ll be hiking the Caminito Del Rey. For the last many years, the trail was closed because of the safety issues. It was reopened during 2015 after extensive renovation

The new look of the trail has been added with new and improved stairs, bridges, and handrails that is sure to give you some new experience. The trail, Caminito del Rey is around five miles long and it is going to take four hours to get completed.

Then if you are more interested in cultural things then you must give a visit to Cordoba where you’ll be seeing the Moorish sites. It will take around 45 minutes to reach the site by AVE high-speed train. Then you can head towards Granada and enjoy seeing the Alhambra, which is a fortress complex and a stunning Arabic palace. You may also hire a car to explore the coastal towns along the Costa del Sol.

Day 7: Barcelona

This part of the Spain Itinerary and you’ll be traveling from Seville to Barcelona. It will be taking around 2 hours by air. You’ll get to see this cool Catalan capital with its lovely Art Nouveau architecture, walkable streets, stylish bars, and designer shops.

You’ll be starting off your Barcelona trip walking through the Passeig de Gracia and the heart of Las Ramblas. And then you have the chance to explore this less touristy neighborhood. Enjoy your dinner around the labyrinthine alleys of the Gothic Quarter. Here you can find a number of hidden restaurants, backpacker pubs, music clubs, and stylish cocktail bars.

Day 8: Costa Brava

This day you will be going for a tour of the Catalan countryside that is located outside of the city. You’ll find here a great number of options and that will depend on the time of the year and other preferences. While during the summer time you can go out to visit many of the towns along the Costa Brava which have a large number of European Blue Flag beaches. And, your preferences are more for seeing the culture of the city stroll through the streets of Pals, quaint arches, a maze of cobbled streets, and hilltop town with stoned balconies. Also, there is the Jewish quarter in Girona, that has been best preserved that you can see.

Day 9: Madrid - Departure

This is the last day of your trip. Pack your belongings and get ready to depart home.
