Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Oxford

Upon your arrival at London Heathrow airport, you'll be met by your private guide and driven an hour north to Oxford. Later in the afternoon, your private guide will bring you to Blenheim Palace to explore the palace and its surrounding grounds. Relish a relaxing evening cruise along the River Thames before you have dinner at the river terrace restaurant.

 

Day 2: Exploring Oxford

Oxford has a lot to offer to tourists and there is definitely a reason why people return to the county again and again. From the medieval University of Oxford to the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, there is so much rich history and culture in Oxford for you to explore. Whether you want to discover a medieval civilization at a world-famous museum, stroll around some of the most popular landmarks in the UK or just relax back with an afternoon tea, you will find something or the other to do for all occasions here and for all members of the family.

Embark on the train into the Cotswolds to meet your private guide for your shared Secret Cottages tour. This tour takes you round some of the most pretty villages in the Cotswolds, as well as relishing an afternoon tea at your guide's cottage. Return back to Oxford by train.

 

Day 3: Visiting London

Head out to the train station and board the train south to London. After checking into your hotel, you'll meet your private guide for an introductory tour of the city in an iconic vintage Mini Cooper.

 

Day 4: More of London

Today, join a small group for some afternoon tea sessions in your guide's centrally situated home. Learn the history behind the afternoon tea, and how to make certain traditional items such as scones.

 

Day 5: One Day Tour of Canterbury

Wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced life? Canterbury is the perfect destination for you to get some much-needed peace. Each and every activity here can be undertaken at your very own pace.

Visit the historic town and its surrounding city in the administrative. Its cathedral has been the main priestly center of England since the early 7th century.

Board the train east to Canterbury. Here, you'll get to stay within the grounds of the cathedral enclosure itself. Meet your guide for a 90-minute walking tour of this ancient city, and learn about its history, most interesting buildings and horrific stories. Later, meet a cathedral guide and explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Day 6: Heading to Rye

Rye which is situated in East Sussex is one of the best-kept secrets of England. Squeezed between green rolling hills and the English Channel, the city is one of the best-preserved ancient towns in England. With names like Mermaid Street, Watchbell Lane, and Wish Street you can’t really fail to be captivated by a town that time seems to have passed by. Twisted half-timbered houses line a jumble of steep cobbled lanes, there are ancient inns, beach walks,  and even a castle. All this makes Rye the perfect destination for a quaint weekend break.

Embark on the train to Dover, where you will meet your private guide. Explore the White Cliffs of Dover from various perspectives, before you visit Dover Castle and its captivating military tunnels, which were used as the hospital for the armed forces for a secret operation during World War II. Your guide will take you further along the coast to the beautiful, medieval fishing town of Rye.

 

Day 7: Departure Back Home

Spend this morning exploring the cobbled streets and ancient half-timbered buildings of Rye on your own, before your private guide meets you to escort you to the airport.
