Day 1: Arriving in Ho Chi Minh City

Though there are also direct international flights to Hanoi, the capital city, most of the tour operators like to start from Ho Chi Minh City as the former has a lot to offer to the tourists. Either you land directly to Ho Chi Minh City or you would receive a direct transfer from Hanoi by your operator. The city has many fun things to do. There are historically significant places and some interesting activities that you can undertake while you are in Ho Chi Minh City on day two and three.

You must visit the Reunification Palace which is also the former presidential palace of South Vietnam. In the final days of the war, the palace was bombed by North Vietnamese troops, the replica of which stands even today. You can find a variety of exhibits here which would tell the story of the fall of the South Vietnamese government during the 1960s. The War Remnants Museum is another interesting place because it is a war museum which features American Planes, tanks, helicopters, and other war machines. It also has some photo exhibit of the great Vietnam war.  Then you can visit the massively built Bitexco Financial Tower which is the tallest building in the city. The Saigon Skydeck, which is on the 49th floor of the tower, has a fantastic view of the city. The AO Show (pronounced ahh ohh) is a Cirque du Soleil-style stage performance of Vietnamese culture. The show, which features live acrobatics and Vietnamese music, is held inside the historical Saigon Opera House. Another important architecture to visit in Ho Chi Minh city is the Cu Chi Tunnels which are an incredible network of tunnels built by the Viet Cong during the Vietnamese war. Some tunnels have been opened for the public with some guided tours.

Day 4 and Day 5: Visiting the Nha Trang

On the fourth day of the trip, your tour operator will take you to Nha Trang which is the most serene place in Vietnam. It is Vietnam’s most popular beach resort city and is an hour flight from Saigon. It has some best beachside hotels, water activities and divers paradise. •In addition to diving and relaxing on the beach, Nha Trang has a variety of attractions. Day 6 and Day 7: Exploring Hanoi and Halong Bay and Departure

The last couple of days would be reserved to visit the most enthused city of Hanoi and Halong Bay in Northern Vietnam. There are many connecting flights from Nha Trang to Hanoi with most of them reaching the capital city in just under two hours. Some of the popular attractions in Hanoi include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ho Chi Minh Museum. The two memorials were erected out of respect for the former revolutionary leader. The other such site is the Temple of Literature which is Vietnam’s most famous Confucian Temple, a historical site dating back to 1070. There are also some war memorials and museums that you should visit.

The last day should be booked for visiting the Halong Bay area which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the far North of Vietnam. It is famous for its Limestone Islands and they count up to 1600. You can take a day trip to Halong Bay from Hanoi and get back by night. There is another option of spending a night aboard a junk in Halong Bay before returning back to Hanoi for Departure.
