Arrive in the city of Abersee to start Austria vacation for eight days which will focus on adventure and knowing about the incredible history of Austria. You will be visiting St Wolfgang, Schwarzensee, Strobl, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Altaussee, Bad Aussee, Koppenbrüller Caves, Hallstatt, Gosau Valley and coming back to Abersee to end the trip. Day 1: Arrival in Vienna and transfer to Abersee
On the first day of the tour, you will be arriving in the beautiful historic capital city of Vienna to start your Austria Vacation of adventure and history. After getting refreshed, you will be transferred to the small village of Abersee which is located on the west side of the Lake Wolfgangsee. It is here that you will be officially starting your trip to Austria. After reaching there, your tour operator would help you settle in a pre-booked cottage. This place is one of the most beautiful villages in the region of Salzkammergut. This place is also easily accessible by bus from the Salzburg accommodation in the Abersee area. Come out in the evening to meet some local people and try some local cuisine while enjoying your cottage stay.
Day 2: visiting Schwarzensee and Strobl
On the second day of the trip, your trip coordinator would take you St Wolfgang by a boat in the morning to check out the area which is famous amongst the tourists. Get on a saddle walk on the forested path to reach to the lake Schwarzensee. It is here that you can stop for some refreshments at the famous Madame Lore’s lake cabin. After that, you will be walking down to the valley through a gorge under a well-trained person around the Bürglstein and reach to the lake promenade in Strobl. You can then take a bus to the Emperors Town of Bad Ischl which is often recommended by the tour operators. The night’s accommodation would be made at Bad Ischl which is near to Stadt Salzburg.
Day 3: Visiting Bad Ischl to Bad Goisern
The third day of the trip would be a special one as you will be starting a walk with a local touring party at the Promenade of Bad Ischl and then continue the walk to the salt mountain situated at Bad Ischl. In this walking tour, you will be passing through some alpine forests and after that, you will start the ascent to the Mount Predigstuhl which gives an awesome view of the Hallstatt area. Pass the famous area of the Ewige Wand which means the eternal wall and then you can walk down to another important location of Bad Goisern. In total, you will be walking around 15 km today which can take 5-6 hours and ascend to 785 meters in height. For tonight, your accommodation would be made in Bad Goisern or locally called as Goisererhof and Lindwurm.
Day 4: Visiting Altaussee from Bad Goisern
On the morning of the fourth day as well, the adventure would continue as your tour operator takes you from forested land to another one. Today, you will walk on the high plateau region of Bad Goisern to reach the lovely Ausseer Land which is gifted in many senses. After that, take a downhill walk through the alpine meadow of Blaa Alm and then a flower trail will then bring you to the famous town of Altaussee where you can take a local bus to Bad Aussee. Today, you will be walking around 19kms for around 6 hours and reach an elevation of more than 600 meters. The night accommodation would be made in Bad Aussee in some guesthouse or country hotel.
Day 5: Visiting Bad Ausse, Koppenbrüller Caves and transfer to Hallstatt
On the fifth day of the tour, you will be following the river path through the deeply cut Koppenvalley to reach the heavily guarded the Koppenbrüller caves. After walking for some time, you will see the first houses of Hallstatt as well as the Salt Mountain. After that, you can take a ferry which will take you to the Hallstatt center which has many places to visit. You can stroll down the little alleys and take some photographs as well. Once you reach there, check out the surroundings to see Mount Dachstein which is the highest peak in upper Austria. Today, you would be walking around 15kms for around 5 hours and reach a maximum elevation of 150 meters. In the evening, accommodation would be made available for you in Hallstatt.
Day 6: Visiting Gosau Valley
On the morning of the sixth day of the Austria Vacation, you will be taking a cable car to reach the Hallstatt mountain valley which has some Celtic gravesites as well as salt mines. After passing the Plassen Mountain, you will reach the Gosau Valley. Here, you will take a walk and have some stunning views of the Dachstein mountain with all its might of glaciers and steep ridges of the Gosaukamm. Night stay at Gosau.
Day 7: Visiting Bad Ischl and transfer to Lake Wolfgangsee
On the second last day of the tour, you will be spending it entirely on walking. In the morning, you will be taking a bus to reach Bad Ischl and then walk on Elisabeth's path to reach the idyllic lake Nussensee. After that, you will be walking along the River Ischl to reach Strobl. After that, you will be walking down to the valley through a gorge under a well-trained person around the Bürglstein and reach to the lake promenade in Strobl.
Day 8: Departure
Today, your tour operator would be doing the formality of transferring you from your pre-booked hotel to the airport as per the schedule of your flight. You can even go shopping in the nearby markets if time permits before you bid adieu to the amazing Austria Vacation which will be remembered for life by you.
