Tour description
You will be starting your tour of Italy on cycle from the most exciting location of Rome. After that, you will be visiting Pisa, Lucca, Montecatini, Vinci, and Pistoia. Following the tour of these cities, you will be visiting Florence, the most important city in the last phase and ending the trip there. Check out the details of the itinerary here –
Day 1: Arrival in Rome and taking the day off
Your Italy Vacation and adventure will start with your arrival in the ancient city of Rome. It is here that you will be meeting your tour guide and operator who would take you to the pre-booked hotel. Depending upon the time of your arrival, you can make an itinerary for the day. As most of the travelers arrive during the afternoon time, you can take rest and enjoy the day as per your leisure. You can decide on coming out in the evening and explore the cafes and joints where you can hang out. Rome has excellent night outs and you can join one to explore the bars and cafes that make it one of the most executive cities of the world.
Day 2: Starting the tour with a guided walk of Rome
After having a light meal, your tour operator will start the proceedings of the day. Firstly, you are made part of a guided walking tour of Rome which would include a visit to the ancient Colosseum and the Roman Forum. These two architectures are living testament of the Roman engineering that has stood the test of time. Next on the line would be the treasures of Capitoline Hill where Augustus who was Rome’s First Emperor was born. It is here that the legacy of the Roman Empire was first started. Day 3: Visiting Pisa to start the cycling tour
The third day of the tour would come along the news of taking you to the beautiful town of Pisa where one of the greatest architecture of the time is waiting for you. After you arrive here, you can settle down in the hotel that’s been booked for you. After having settled down, come out to visit the famous structure of Pisa i.e. leaning Tower of Pisa which leans on its axis to the right side. The building in itself is an engineering marvel which one cannot escape but applaud. In the evening of the third day, you will be briefed about the cycle tour and be given a fitting cycle for your tour. Stay the night here and enjoy dinner in the old part of the town for tonight.
Day 4: Get set go on the cycle
The most adventurous part of the tour would start on the fourth day of the trip when your biggest highlight comes true. After having a light breakfast at the hotel, you will be starting on your bike from the square Piazza Dei Miracoli which is home to the leaning tower and then head towards the Lake Massaciuccoli. You will then take a turn towards the road onto the lake and the Tyrrhenian Sea offers which offers stunning views. Get past the olive groves till you reach River Serchio and continue along its cycling path to the fortified city of Lucca. Get to the historic old part of the town while riding on the top of the circular city walls. You will have to break some sweat to get to the top of the tower. This would be the place you would be spending your night. Enjoy the palace views and its grand pleasures.
Day 5: Leisurely ride to Montecatini, the spa resort town
On the fifth day, you will start your cycling and ride to the famous spa resort town of Italy, Montecatini. On the way to the resort town, you can spot various baroque architectures and villages who would be glad to host you for some afternoon snacks. The spa town is located on the top of a hill and is best known for its white wine which is served with pleasure and you would definitely want some for yourself. Riding at your pace, your next destination would be to go past the Valdinievole valley arriving at Montecatini. It is here that you will be spending two nights.
Day 6 and Day 7: Visiting various places near and around Montecatini
In these two days, you will be visiting several places which are near to Montecatini. On the sixth day, you will be cycling through the olive groves to Vinci which is the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. Check out the Da Vinci museum which captures the innovations and works of Da Vinci and which has been preserved by the archaeology department. After that, you can take a ride on the funicular to Montecatini Alto before you return to your hotel. On the seventh day, you will cycle towards the small Medieval village of Montevettolini. Riding to this place can give you views of the Arno valley before you reach Pistoia which is known as Little Florence. Day 8: Visiting Florence and Departure
On the last day of the trip, you will be visiting the magnificent city of Florence which is filled with ancient history and some important life lessons. It is the place called the ‘Cradle of Renaissance’ that swept entire Europe. After having a detailed visit to this place, your departure will be sorted.
